Underpinning woes

I’ve only had my new home for 6 months and found a previous owner had undermined the foundations. I contacted Admiral to enquire if my insurance would cover the cost of underpinning but was declined as it falls under poor workmanship; even though it was nothing to do with me. I think this would be the case with all insurance companies and I feel the industry as a whole should be more focused on assisting customers rather than enhancing profits.
