Good service but lack of information

I had to make a claim for my pet insurance. Process was simple and got a check a few days later so very happy. Unfortunately I had to wait until I received the check to see how much the excess was as the policy didn't state this anywhere and now I can't claim for the issue a second time if it happens which is really nerve wracking, means I may have to switch insurance policy if it doesn't cover me how a likely scenario..
