A lifeline

Credit unions can help people with everyday money pressures, especially when something unexpected happens and they do not have savings to fall back on. With the cost-of-living crisis, gas and electricity bills are high, food costs have risen, and many working-class people have less money left to save or spend. Credit unions can offer fairer, more affordable borrowing than high-cost lenders, and they also encourage people to save small amounts regularly. They can support people to manage emergencies without getting into unaffordable debt.
