An excellent ethical bank - keep up the great work!

I am grateful to have the opportunity to bank with such an ethical bank (96/100 from the Ethical Consumer). Yes, I have to pay £3 a month, but since when do you not pay for a service and why should people on low incomes pay interest charges to support others' free banking. I personally received the money I had paid in overdraft charges back when Triodos decided this was not ethical; they then stopped providing an overdraft facility. Online banking is easy to use and the modernising of the website was a big improvement. I just hope one day ethical pensions are as good as this bank and plant-based pensions become available. Environmental & Social Values

I want to bank with an ethical bank. The less I destroy the environment the better. Whether it is because they invest in renewable energy, organic farming or fairtrade organisations or because they don't invest in armaments or nuclear power. I am prepared to pay £3 a month for that knowledge. I would like to know that they are investing in vegan organisations as being an ethical vegan is a challenge. What bank gives you the money back they charged you for using an overdraft - weird?! As someone who has known nothing but borrowing from when I was first a student, it is hard no longer having an overdraft, but I think that it changes my mindset. The online banking has much improved since I joined Triodos in 2018. The Ethical Consumer magazines keeps me informed on how to make the best decisions and Triodos was one of those decisions. We need more focus on environmental, social values and not just the single bottom line of money. Reviewed on: 4th March 2025

Not just the bottom line, but the triple bottom line

Many more ethical companies like Triodos are needed. I am glad to be able to have a current account with a bank with values. It is also great to read about small businesses like Comrie Croft that receive loans from Triodos, and at the same time hear about the triple bottom line in practice. Reviewed on: 14th December 2019
