Review of the Starling Bank, Current account:

Excellent current account

Starling is very easy to use, and super fast in every respect. Having no branches, you obviously can't swap change for notes or vice versa or nip in for a banker's draft. However, that's to be expected from an online only account. There's no Web portal, which means if you lose your phone, you can't access your account, but they're working on that. There's already one for the business accounts. You can pay money in and take it out at post offices, just like with other banks. Unfortunately, it's not pos to pay cheques in directly, using your mobile phone. I feel that's something a mobile phone based current account should do, and that's why I've given one less star. Everything else is great. My favourite feature is the saving pots/envelopes (which they call "spaces"). These let you seperate money from your main balance. It's a really nice touch that if your main balance dips below zero, but it wouldn't be below zero if the money in your pots was still in your main balance, then Starling don't charge interest. But, if you've got a positive balance including your pots, then they do pay interest. It's the best of both worlds. They're fast, reliable, and flexible. I recommend them all the time.
