Fast, simple and intuitive functionality

After I paid off my mortgage I felt very lost without my old flexible monthly budgeting account. Fortunately this was just about the time that Starling launched their app-based current account and I jumped at it. Starling's fast, simple and intuitive functionality gave me back everything I had before...but far better, and all on my phone. I can see exactly what I have been spending by week, month and year under any chosen category of spend. It even codes regular expenditure to the correct cost centre without me having to do anything so family budgeting is a snip. Reviewed on: 5th April 2023

Best current account app there is

My Virgin One account has served me well over the years but now the mortgage is paid off, I was looking for a fast, easy-to-use, app-oriented current account that would allow me to classify and analyse my monthly spending against budget in much the same way that I used to do on-line with Virgin (sadly Virgin do not offer anything similar after your mortgage is redeemed). I looked at everything that is currently available (e.g. Monza) but Starling is the best offering by a country mile. Most classifications of my spending are automatic and accurate first time round but it is simple for me to reclassify if I have a particular reason to want to change it. Notifications of transactions are instantaneous by text (I can feel my phone vibrate in my pocket the moment I make a card transaction). 10 out of 10 in my estimation. I could not be more pleased.
