A life saver!

I have been a member for over 10 years after a debt advisor told me about credit unions. SCU has saved me from debts during bad times. I've had loans which have been repaid at very reasonable rates whilst I was able to continue to save. The online service is very easy to use and contact with the customer service is very good by telephone and email. They are always friendly and helpful. I've recommended SCU to family and friends, and some of them have opened accounts. It's a relief to know I have savings for emergencies, like when the washing machine breaks or anything like that. Especially now, when everything is costing more. It's difficult to save money on a small budget but it's worth it, and I feel proud of myself when I see what I have saved in my account. Reassuring

I have been saving with Sheffield Credit Union for several years and have had loans which were very low interest rates and easy to repay. The staff are great, very sympathetic and explain things very well and the online account is simple and very efficient. The best thing is loan interest goes down after 3rd loan (loyalty loan). I have a very low income and can't afford to pay the banks interest charges and definitely don't want a credit card. I joined SCU after being in debt and very stressed, even though I could only save a small amount per month, they gave me a small loan which really helped me at that time. I save every week and now my daughter has become a member too. I like the principles of credit unions and am a firm supporter. Reviewed on: 25th June 2020
