Florida holiday

Had travel insurance for my wife and myself for florida but the flights have been cancelled due to the covid crisis so don't need the insurance Our insurance cost £495 because of my wifes health ,and they are taking 50% for something I don't need .Don't know if this is the norm but seems to me to be a bit much.
