Love Go Henry - but doesn't stop teenage strops!

5
I was reluctant about allowing my daughter to have a Go Henry card as I wasn't sure she could be trusted to spend wisely. Her penchant for spending Christmas / Birthday money on sweets and Roblox was really quite something. However, GoHenry allows me to control where she can spend her money and how much she can spend. That's not to say we don't end up with an Uber Eats knocking the door with cheesy chips (apparently there's nothing to eat in the fridge and she's not in the mood for an apple!). It also allows me to create jobs for her to complete with a monetary value - the prize can be within her reach if she just removes the 26 piece-covered-in ketchup-dining set from her room. She hasn't yet figured out it's only me that can 'tick off' chore completion. The card is also a useful tool for saving. So when the dulcet tones of teenage angst come floating down the stairs...'Muuuuum I really need roblox vouchers/a pair of vans' those requests get added to the app so she can see how much she has to set aside to obtain said current desire. In fact by the time I finished writing this, Roblox?Vans are probably no longer 'sic' and another influencer is promoting some other must have fashion. That said I think her sloppy joes may need to be surgically removed to make way for new fashion. It's also great for gifting. Rather than money being transferred to me for onward transmission (that sometimes might end up being used in a coffee shop) family and friends can gift directly to the card. The teen can't go overdrawn and I love the fact that I get a message every time she uses it. She has now linked it to my Amazon account - mainly because I have Prime and who wants to pay for postage when Mum does! Reviewed on: 18th January 2021
