Perfect introduction to the world of saving and spending money!

5
My 12 year daughter first signed up to Go Henry based on a friends recommendation. I wanted to give her the independence to manage her own pocket money whilst retaining some control over how she learnt to spend it. She loves using the saving options and I was able to give her tasks to earn more ££. Together we manage her savings and she takes great delight and seeing how saving a bit every week allowed her a big splurge when she really needed it. Moving in to Secondary, it also gave me assurance that she had cash safely available to her if she needed it. I get notifications of where she is spending her money too and I can set limits in case she gets carried away, she is now 14 and that's much more common. I think when she turns 15 she will migrate to a 'regular' account as by then she will be secure in her appreciation of money and will be mature enough to manage her own money. Go Henry has allowed her to have a 'real life' experience of money and has taught her to respect it. Due to the success of my 12 year old, I was pressured to start giving my 8 year old pocket money. I eventually bent to the pressure (!) and she earns £1 a week IF she does her chores. She now also has a GoHenry card so she too can see the power of saving up and she just loves using her card in store to buy treats. When they receive gifts of money, I can transfer easily into their accounts rather than it seeming invisible and out of their reach sitting in my bank account. It has also made them think twice before frittering away cash on pointless tat as they don't like to see the total go down! Reviewed on: 19th January 2021
