Change in terms was disappointing for small scale investor

I enjoyed using Wombat for around a year. I was attracted by the no fees approach for small investments (<£1000). They then changed their terms and started charging monthly fees which would have really eaten into the returns on a small investment over the year. I sold my share of funds I'd bought into and moved my money off the platform. It's a shame as I like their approach to making investing easy via the app, but I didn't like that they made this change. In addition, the process of sending money in and out of the account was clunky. Not possible to set up a direct debit or integrate via open banking as is now possible between some apps. It was also quite slow for deposits to arrive into my investment account, even though deposits were sent through standard, fast bank transfer. I was also keen for the round up feature that was promised as 'coming soon', but this never seemed to come online. Reviewed on: 10th February 2022

Helped me take my first steps into investing

I love Wombat! I'm in my 30s and am regretting not getting started on serious savings 10 years ago. Whenever I looked into investing it seemed complicated and not feasible for someone with only small amounts to save each month. Now that I have Wombat I've been able to invest my small amount each month into lots of different funds, which helps balance the risk. It's easy to add cash each month and add to my portfolio. I love that I can access the info about each fund I'm investing in directly within the app too. And so far my portfolio is doing well, earning me a far better return than my savings account at my bank. I only wish Wombat had existed 10 years ago!!
