App-based challenger banks are the future

I can't really compare Starling to their direct competitors in this new space, but I do know they're leaps and bounds better than the traditional brick-and-mortar banks I was used to dealing with. The simplicity and ease of access means I actually feel aware of, and in control of, what's happening with my money. Features like saving spaces and expenses categorisation help me on a day to day basis, and a growing stable to plug-ins from 3rd party services is encouraging for the future. Assuming the economy improves at some point and interest rates become more than negligible, I hope we'll even get savings accounts and similar. Otherwise I honestly dread the idea of having to go elsewhere for them. Reviewed on: 22nd January 2021
