Review of the Triodos Bank, Cash ISA:

The best balance of ethical and user-friendly

5
Triodos is arguably the best balance of ethical and user friendly. They invest purely in projects and companies that are beneficial to the planet, and their website and app are easy to use. Interest rates are competitive, and I've never once had an issue accessing my money or customer support. Anyone who is worried that switching banks could be a headache needn't worry about that with Triodos - I found the switch very easy to do, and that was before the app came along that makes everything even easier. Move your money to this ethical bank and thank me later. Reviewed on: 11th March 2025

The most ethical savings account on the market, with a good interest rate too!

I've been banking with Ecology for about eight years now. I was drawn to them by a Move Your Money campaign that looked at how ethical the UK's banks and building societies are, and rated Ecology at the top of the pile. Ecology invests savings into mortgages for people building new eco-friendly homes, or making green modifications to existing ones. This helps to reduce the carbon footprint of the UK's notoriously draughty housing stock; reduce energy bills for homeowners and builders; and give people the chance to build their dream home. What's not to like! Their online web portal is easy to use, their team are friendly and easy to contact, and their savings rates are very competitive, much to my surprise as I'd previously thought that "green" = "premium price/lower interest rates," but clearly that is not the case. I'd recommend Ecology to everyone, for savings and for mortgages. Reviewed on: 4th March 2023

The most ethical bank on the market

5
Ecology Building Society is rated the most ethical bank in the UK by the Move Your Money campaign. Savings are invested in mortgages for people building eco-friendly homes, so have a directly positive impact on the environment and the housing shortage. Their online banking feature is easy to use, their range of products and savings rates is competitive, and unlike other supposedly ethical banks like Triodos who often invest in polluting companies like petrol lobbyists Toyota, Ecology really do make a positive difference. Competitive, ethical and friendly banking

5
I opened a savings account with Ecology Building Society after reading that they had been scored the most ethical bank in the UK. They may be a small building society, but their interest rates are surprisingly competitive, which is why I subsequently opened a high interest monthly savings account with them. They are constantly improving their tech, and their website is very easy to use. On top of this, their customer service is second to none, and I've never once had a bad experience with them. Ecology invest savings into providing mortgages and loans for people building eco-friendly homes, or retrofitting their existing property with energy-saving measures. I'm pleased that my savings are being put to good use, and I look forward to other members helping me to achieve my eco home ambitions some day in the near future. Reviewed on: 12th March 2021
