Review of the Santander, Mortgage:

DO NOT OPEN an account

DO NOT OPEN an account with Santander. This is the worst bank ever. I have Barclays from three years and I never had any problem since I opened the account. I just wanted a backup account and I thought Santander was a good bank as they have all those nice looking branches but I guess the say “never judge a book by its cover” it’s true. I opened the account online and it wasn’t easy at all. I had to post them the copies of the documents required as the “Upload” option on the website was not working. After waited almost a week for a response, for the account to be opened and for all the letters that I received (4 in total) I tried to login into my account and it was basically blocked. I dealt with three different people in the Customer Service to understand what was going on as I just opened the account but the answer was the same “We don’t know what happened. There is a block in your account for security purpose. The security team will sort it out”. Well, I waited almost a month for this problem to be fixed and in the end I just opened an account (very easy, 5 minutes in total) with Lloyds and I called Santander to close my account which will be impossible for sure as I saw online that a lot of people are trying to close an account with them unsuccessfully.
