I was at rock bottom.

Like most people, I was at rock bottom when I reached out to stepchange. Bottom rung of the ladder, knee deep in debt and sinking fast. The first person I spoke to was so reassuring, letting me know that I'd done the hardest bit and accepted I was in need of help. Through the calm approach of the voice at the other end of the phone, that showed no sign of derision in my failure to manage my finances. A plan that suited me (there are several debt options available)was put in place with a clear goal of how to repay everything and more importantly. My debt free date. Covid added a few unforseen issues into the mix, but once again a phone call to a working from home advisor sorted everything out. I have been debt free now for nearly a year and the relief is fantastic. Knowing that I did it is an incredible feeling. Don't get me wrong, it was hard work. Bloody hard work and it took 7 long years. But those 7 long years were a valuable learning experience. If you're struggling with debt, please take this one piece of advice and get in touch with them. In 2017 I was suffocating under a mountain of debt. Stepchange was recommended to me by a friend , as they had received help and were successfully managing their own plan. I had nothing left to lose so I took the plunge and made the call. It is without doubt the best decision I made, no judgement, no criticism only help and support. My debt was over 40k! But here I am, almost exactly 7 years later and in 2 more months I will be debt free. It's not been easy, I won't lie to you. It's like everything in life that's worthwhile, you need to work at it. If, like me you are struggling, alone and feel like you are unable to manage your repayments to multiple creditors and worried that the next knock at the door is the bailiffs? Drowning in Debt

Like most people who arrive here, I was going under, drowning in debt. 1 phonecall literally changed everything. The advice was amazing and the process is so simple and easy to understand, when your debt has swallowed your ability to think clearly the voice at the other end of the phone gently blows away the fog of despair.
