Almost impossible to open an account! Old fashioned

almost impossible to open an account. Old fashioned and time consuming having to send ID backwards and forwards in the post even though they have checked the applicant and opened an account only to them 'not liking' the certified ID and asking for another! Unbelievable how this cant be uploaded on line! Its 2022 not 1902... Wasting customers time and getting them to jump through hoops and then writing letters saying youve got 5 days to re certify ID or we shut the account and youll have to start all over! Reply from Family Building Society Thank you for your comments and I’m sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction. When opening an account online, we complete electronic identity checks. If these do not meet our requirements we then ask you send us original or certified copies of the documents we require. I am sorry for any inconvenience this caused you. These are not our rules and we have no leeway in identifying people for anti-money laundering checks. We have an obligation to carry out full customer verification before we can open an account.
