Review of the MORE THAN, Home Insurance:

No peace of mind with More Than.

This is an honest, constructive and helpful review, with some serious emotions attached to it! I had noticed I lost some verge tiles of my roof. It had rained quite a lot and had been extremely windy the previous night, so made the link with the tiles coming off then. Didn’t see it happen, but found part of it in the garden. I ticked the box weather related on the insurance form as that was my assumption. I was informed by More Than I would get a visit from BVS, but I had to wait a week before they could get to me. Time to check the company out and I read the poor reviews on Trust Pilot and also Google. I was really shocked and scared and phoned More Than with my concerns. I was told that all the bad reviews are from people being told by BVS they did not have a legitimate claim because it was wear and tear and they were annoyed. I said I wasn't concerned about that as the roof was fairly new. I was more concerned about mentions of aggression and rudeness, and also the fact they were not registered. He said they were registered and to ring them back if they were aggressive, so I said I would allow them to come and keep an open mind. I know they record their conversations, so at least it would be on record. LITTLE DID I KNOW! Jack Winwood arrived. Not rude, or unpleasant. Nothing much to say really. Went to the back garden with a camera on a pole. You cannot see the roof edge from the back garden and I questioned it, but his answer was: "I will be alright". He came to the the conclusion the "storm" didn't meet the criteria. I said I had not used the word storm, but had put weather related on the form as that was what I thought had caused it. I had not seen it happen and assumed it happened the previous night when it had been very windy. I said that I also had accidental insurance. He said:”Yes, but you don’t know if was accidental.” I then replied: Please do not tell me it is wear and tear, because the roof is fairly new and no one else has any missing tiles.”He appeared not willing to discuss it further and he legged it, leaving the form he had filled in. My husband went out. Jack Winwood reluctantly turned around but said he did not want to discuss it further. I have the “not willing conversation “ on my Ring doorbell. On the form he has written "natural breakdown". This housing estate is fairly new and not one of the neighbours has 'natural breakdown'. Absolutely ridiculous and very upsetting. With hindsight I should have refused and asked for someone else. Insurance should mean having peace of mind when something happens. I should have known better…. I can put in a complaint was the answer from More Than. Thank you More Than, for nothing. Reviewed on: 17th November 2022
