My American Express credit card gives me great peace of mind to address any liquidity issues if needed due to the high credit limit. I don't use it a lot at the moment and made it a habit to pay it off straight away, so the high interest rates don't bother me. I see it more as a financial back up in case of emergency or if I have a bigger expenditure, for example for holidays, one month that I want to spread over a slightly longer period of time.

I have been banking with first direct for a very long time now, and I see no need to change that. I really like their clear and straightforward communication. The online interface is very user-friendly, and I can quickly apply for other financial products. My statements are easily accessible, and I can download them onto my computer, thus saving paper and the environment. Whenever I have had interaction with first direct staff, they have been very helpful. And I like that I can contact them out of regular working hours.

Excellent customer service - no matter how many legs!

I once read that you should surround yourself with people that are kind to animals - here you have a bank doing just that! Pets are welcome which makes such a difference to the atmosphere. Opening an account was easy and straightforward as is depositing and withdrawing money. Waiting times are kept to a minimum, and the staff are friendly and focused on my needs. I very much enjoy the extended opening hours and feel understood as a working mum. I also really like how Metro Bank is encouraging children to think about saving money and makes it easy to open a children's account. Overall, a very positive banking experience.
