Nearly Debt Free thanks to Stepchange

MY wife Died in 2019 after 5yrs battling Cancer I was very low and stupidly through gambling and not generally giving a damn built up a large debt..Once I came to my senses I realized I had to take a grip on my Finances an the easy option would have been to go Bankrupt but I wanted to do the decent thing and pay back what I owed! I contacted Stepchange as they had been recommended and after going through my income and Debts they recommended a Debt Management Plan which my many creditors agreed to...I started my plan about 3 yrs back and I am in a great place now where it is due to end in Jan 2026 and every month the debts are dropping off as they are settled. I have had bumps along the way but have worked with Stepchange to get back on track...Actually enjoy seeing the statement now x Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

I went off the Financial Rails in a big way after my wife Died and stupidly got myself deep in debt. The best decision I made was contacting Stepchange and after a thirough review a Debt Management Plan was recommended...I have paid off well over half of what I owed and this unlike an IVA doesn't line the administrators pockets and yhe freezing of interest is a god send...Highly Recommend Stepchange. My Debt Management Plan

I contacted Stepchange as I was struggling with unsecured Debts which had built up over time following my wife's Bereavement after which I went of the rails and needed help desperately. From the moment I contacted them everything calmed down and they very quickly suggested a DMP as the best option for me and after I agreed contacted all my creditors very quickly and put into place the DMP which has been running for over a year now. All my interractions with Stepchange have been very positive and I can't praise them enough! Reviewed on: 8th July 2023
