Life changing help

I was in debt through loans and credit cards following a divorce. I was being chased for payments by letters and phone calls that I couldn't make and was hiding away from the issue. I contacted Citizens Advice and they suggested that I contact StepChange. I discussed my situation with them over the phone and they suggested that a debt management plan would be best for me. They immediately arranged a 60 day break with my creditors which meant that they would not contact me during this period. I then provided a full breakdown of all my debts to Stepchange and they asked me to complete a budget on their website which detailed all my incomings and outgoings. This helped StepChange propose a monthly payment that I could make to my creditors. StepChange then contacted all my creditors on my behalf and agreed a monthly payment that would be made to each of them until the debt was cleared. I make one monthly payment to StepChange and they distribute this amongst my creditors. My budget is reviewed on an annual basis and I receive a monthly statement from StepChange which also advises when I will be debt clear. My debts were not reduced by StepChange but the fact that they deal with my creditors and I only have to make one monthly payment to them has taken so much pressure and anxiety away. I do not receive phone calls or letters from my creditors and StepChange have made the clearing of my debts so much easier and with far less stress and worry. Throughout this process, StepChange have been so professional and easy to deal with and they have taken away all the worry and anxiety that I had over my debts. I would not hesitate to recommend StepChange to anyone facing debt issues. Fantastic

I was in debt and struggling both financially and mentally. After contacting StepChange, they talked through everything and came up with the best option for me. They contacted my creditors on my behalf and successfully negotiated manageable monthly payments on my behalf. I pay StepChange one monthly payment and they pay my creditors. This has also stopped the never ending letters and phone calls from creditors. I would recommend them to anyone struggling with debt. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

Eased the worry and stress

Contacted StepChange due to debt issues and they have been so professional and helpful. They guide you every step of the way, there when you need them and take the worry and stress out of the situation. They can’t pay your debts for you but they will help you with a plan that helps you pay off your debts within your budget. They talk to your creditors on your behalf, negotiate payments and it stops the stressful letters and phone calls.
