A New Beginning!

After years of difficulty with both physical and mental health, l accrued debt. As l moved home several times without realising it l was hoping...wishing the debt would somehow magically dissolve. Burying my head in the sand..... However at each new address l never settled, the worry and anxiety of these debts wouldn't leave me. My mental health remained poor, l felt guilty? ashamed and scared ALL the time. Finally l realised the discomfort of hiding was worse than the discomfort of facing these problems head on. Step Change were recommended by a Neighbour and it took me months to find the courage to make contact. From the moment l did the man l initially spoke to was totally amazing!!! He dealt with my tears and anxiety with sensitivity and reassurance. I went on to speak to numerous case workers having been alloted a personal reference code. My health diagnoses was taken into account, l was treated with dignity and respect. Once my debts were put together l agreed an affordable payment plan which means in over 2 years my credit will be clear! I walk a couple of inches taller now....my shame has gone and l feel the terrible burden l was carrying has been lifted. The staff at Step Change literally enabled me to start afresh....they made me feel safe and not fear opening letters anymore. The dark days of messages from collection agencies are over.
