Some difficulty renewing

Previously with policy expert, was called to offer renewal and offered reduced price from original renewal quote. Has some building work done so was sent a form to update the policy. Once this was sent back the renewal date had passed and was then told the quote had increased by £40. Felt this wasn't made clear and he person I spoke to was unable to offer the same quote.
