We remortgaged with Saffron before the 2008 Crash. We were looking for a proper mortgage rather than 2-year 'products' that ex-building societies were offering. The rate was based on the bank rate and as bank rates fell Saffron waived the collar, and I will be forever grateful that they did. It helped us through some difficult times. I felt that we were in a partnership, and that is what the best of the building societies used to offer.
