Good for teaching kids money management

4
The main reason for choosing Rooster was the free subscription fee for existing Natwest customers, but I thought that a £1.99 monthly subscription fee was good for non Natwest customers when comparing with similar providers. My child likes that you can choose your card design, and we paid extra for a more 'funky' card to fit their personality. I do however find the process of depositing money into the parenting account then into the child's account a bit unnecessary and would prefer it to just come straight out of my Natwest account and straight into the child account. I do not like that the account is not FCS protected, but we avoid keeping large sums of money in the Rooseter account to counteract this. Rooster is however helping my child to learn about money and they enjoy tapping their card in the shops. I also like the little pocket money emails that Natwest send as I find these really interesting. Reviewed on: 16th March 2026

Good Little App

5
Feel that the app is a bit clunky with regards to transferring money. As I am a NatWest customer, it would be better to be able to transfer money straight from my account to the Rooster account. However, the app is helping me teach my son about money and how important it is to have a balance between spending and saving. Really like the 'pots' function as my son can save towards specific things - wish I had these on my own NatWest account! Reviewed on: 6th April 2024
