It's fair to say I've a fairly complex income(4 private employers and a mix of short and long contracts which end regularly.) However nowadays, this isn't totally outwith modern ways of working. In terms of risk- I had a large deposit, 17yrs of proven sustainable income from the same industry, excellent credit rating and a mortgage already in place but I was saddened to see many banks still apply such a rigid underwriting process for their mortgages. My broker was advised by some larger lenders to not even bother applying and I was offered borrowing that really was no where near in proportion to my salary. 7 weeks later, my broker suggested The Scottish Building Society. We required a lender who gave consideration to my individual circumstances, focused on the facts I'd given with my work vs asking what ifs and were able to show us flexibility ( for example I had a new contract but I'd been same job for 17yrs. My contracts may end but again, the industry is children so the nature of the work won't end.) The Scottish Building Society applied common sense with the application and demonstrated a straight forward, personalised approach to their lending. They worked efficiently , always meeting their deadlines they gave us and provided me with a better interest rate. I've also preferred their communication method through mail or phone- I've found it more refreshing than speaking to an online chat. I'd highly recommend The Scottish Building Society for their underwriting process, interest rate and communication and would always return to them in future before trying any larger bank.
