Quick claims and great value, low fixed excess

Argos cover for max of I think £7.5k per condition, per year, but they also have a very low fixed excess and I have never had a copayment % added which is so beneficial to me and keeps me loyal to them. If my other pets didn't have pre-existing conditions I would move them to Argos too. Claims have been quick or super quick and can now be submitted online by me. My only negative points would be to say I would like the choice to have a slightly higher cover level. The premium does shoot up when your pet hits around 8 years, no matter if you've claimed much, just like all of the pet insureres, but for me it has now stayed pretty steady. The low excess and lack of % is such a huge bonus though. This is the pet insurance I always recommend to friends who don't have loads of spare cash for unexpected bills. They have increased my premium by £100 for second year running. (forgot about auto renewal last year) Ozzie is a young fit crossbreed with no health problems. Got equivalent cover at under half the £450 they want. Usual insurance trick of hoping you're too busy to read the renewal. Reviewed on: 1st May 2022

refused to pay

Our dog had been to the vets previously for her anal glands smelling. I insured her with Argos, and a few weeks later took her back to the vets for her anal glands again. The Vet said further tests revealed a polyp which required surgery costing £1000. Argos refused to contribute claiming that it "was a previous medical condition". I wouldn't recommend them and will not be renewing. Reviewed on: 2nd January 2022

Waste of money!

Absolutely appalling service regarding our claim. They have declined our claim with the flimsiest excuse that it might be connected with the cat's previous visit to the vet. Even our vet can't believe that the claim has been declined. Wish I hadn't wasted my money paying them any premiums! Reviewed on: 21st December 2021

BAD

If I could have scored Argos Pet Insurance (Platinum), I would have scored it ZERO...not even 1 ⭐ Massive scam folks, dont sign up. Better off putting your £50+ in an account of your own. Or, a contribution to an organisation that actually wants to help like the PDSA for us folks who are financially struggling and SICK of scam outfits like Argos Pet Insurance. Take care all. Avoid

Rip off insurance but tied in

We have a 3 year old dog. When we first had her, we took insurance out. At 6 months, we claimed as she had a slight limp. She had xrays, and it determined a slight issue with her shoulder joint that required no further treatment. That year, her insurance was £20 per month. The following year, it rose to £35 per month. I understood we had claimed, but thought no more of it. This year, its gone up to £47 per month. I rang to ask why and they said its her age!!! They couldn't reduce it and I cant go elsewhere as she has a preexisting condition. At this rate, by the time she is 8 it will £100 per month. not happy but stuck . Reviewed on: 1st September 2019

Compassionate and helpful

only had to use once and was unfortunately when had to get my cat put to sleep as was not fit for an operation. They handled the claim direct with the vet with no hassle at all. Reviewed on: 19th August 2018
