Launched well before it was ready

Nice idea, totally ridiculous execution. The basic functionality on the account at present really makes it little more than a savings account... Even paying in money is a struggle. The website is OK but not revolutionary. I'll check back in five years once some of the baseline functionality exists. I fear Fidor will be eclipsed by Atom and Mondo in that time.

Awful

Appalling. Launched without full banking facilities available, ridiculous amounts of ID required to open an account, forced to join their 'community' whether you want to or not. Interest rates are competitive but the 'community' is pretentious and...

Appalling. Launched without full banking facilities available, ridiculous amounts of ID required to open an account, forced to join their 'community' whether you want to or not. Interest rates are competitive but the 'community' is pretentious and rather patronising and the 'listening to customers' claim a very tired cliché.

Awesome bank in its early stages

A very customer orientated bank that listens to its customers. It is not that problems happen, but how a bank listens to its customers and fixes the problem after that counts. Fidor has proven itself in this, and will continue to do so throughout the years. The UK side is taking a unique approach by developing its products in line with what its customers want, the downside of this is that it takes time to listen to customers and then develop what they are after (instead of developing a bunch of products then telling customers this is what they get).

The other fault about Fidor UK is that it needs to be more autonomous as relying upon the German branch for important matters has shown to slow down the UK operations resulting in the occasional dissatisfied customer. If it was always as speedy as it should be we'd have 99.9% satisfaction (you can't please all the people).

I also very look forward to FidorUK's eventual interaction with the emerging digital (crypto) market, and taking a solid lead in this sector.

Although Fidor is relatively new to the UK (Sept15?) they have succeeded in creating an online community which communicates with the bank and each other.
Any 'issues' are dealt with swiftly and openly.
Their recent request for people to scan and email unencrypted passport details was acknowledged as being a mistake and they are putting in place better ways for clients to communicate.
The recent Quiz was a great way for the community to come together and, I'm sure, there will be other events like this.
It's refreshing to meet a Bank that cares AND listens

While Fidor AG in Germany is highly recommended and has a good range of products and services their newly opened UK operation leaves a lot to be desired. You can not pay salary or benefits into your account by BACS, they do not accept CHAPS payments, they don't have standing orders or direct debits, there are no cheque books or overdrafts, and people regularly complain deposits get mislaid or delayed. Rumor has it they will be introducing these things later this year but until then 5 Stars for their German accounts and 1 Star for their UK accounts. Hence the 3 Star averaged score. Hopefully they wake up and get moving to bring their UK operation up to the standard of their German one!
