Basically, no change, it's still a dreadful excuse for a bank. It's great for keeping one or 2 pounds in, you can then book pay on arrival hotels and sign up for free trials of Amazon Prime with no danger of being charged if you forget to cancel in time. Other than the above, they are still promising the same things coming soooooon that they've been promising for the last 4 years, and seem no closer to delivering. After a promising start, a spectacular failure to deliver. Read more Read less

The most useless, incompetent, disfunctional bank. They don't offer even the basics expected from a modern bank, like direct debits, standing orders, saved payee lists, iban, proper faster payments. As they onlw process payments 8am to 5 pm Monday to Fiday excluding bank and public holidays, a "faster payment" made at 6pm on the Thursday befpre Good Friday will actually take 5 days to be actioned. One of their latest innovations is to offer fixed rate savings bonds @ 0% whilst their current account pays 0.03%. As it says in the title, they are good for a laugh, but a serious bank they are not. Fidor should have their banking licence revoked. Stay clear. Read more Read less

Nice idea, totally ridiculous execution. The basic functionality on the account at present really makes it little more than a savings account... Even paying in money is a struggle. The website is OK but not revolutionary. I'll check back in five years once some of the baseline functionality exists. I fear Fidor will be eclipsed by Atom and Mondo in that time. Launched without full banking facilities available, ridiculous amounts of ID required to open an account, forced to join their 'community' whether you want to or not. Interest rates are competitive but the 'community' is pretentious and rather patronising and the 'listening to customers' claim a very tired cliché. Read more Read less

    Not really ready yet

I echo a few of the other reviews about Fidor bank on here. The idea is great but it needs a bit more time before it becomes a great product.

A very customer orientated bank that listens to its customers. It is not that problems happen, but how a bank listens to its customers and fixes the problem after that counts. Fidor has proven itself in this, and will continue to do so throughout the years. The UK side is taking a unique approach by developing its products in line with what its customers want, the downside of this is that it takes time to listen to customers and then develop what they are after (instead of developing a bunch of products then telling customers this is what they get). The other fault about Fidor UK is that it needs to be more autonomous as relying upon the German branch for important matters has shown to slow down the UK operations resulting in the occasional dissatisfied customer. If it was always as speedy as it should be we'd have 99.9% satisfaction (you can't please all the people). I also very look forward to FidorUK's eventual interaction with the emerging digital (crypto) market, and taking a solid lead in this sector. Read more Read less
