One of Life's most important lessons

The hardest things we face in life is poor money management and financial struggles. My 9 year old is excited about saving due to his GoHenry account, he's motivated to earn and he's learning how to budget, all before reaching double figures! This bank does everything I wanted to help my son learn the value of money, as well as inspire a work ethic and its so simple. He's now got the best chance to grow up with learning behind him that could help avoid or reduce financial stress in the future and that is one of my biggest hopes for him. Go Henry is the best app I've tried

I have used gohenry for all 3 of my kids weekly pocket money and which they used as their spending cards as they grew up through their teens. I love the fact that they could choose personalised card designs with their initials on, that I could literally see 'live' what they were spending pop up as a notification on my mobile e.g. "Ben just spent £2.99 in xxxx". That way i could easily monitor their spending, and discuss their spending habits if required. It all feels very transparent allowing both parent and child a perfect balance of control and independence. I could also put little motivators in the app such as "say thank you" or "tidy your bedroom" or "be kinder to your brother" and they would get a bonus paid if they did the chore or behaviour. (Nothing like money as a motivator!) I also always found customer services extremely helpful, and in the instances they lost their cards, it was really easy to order a replacement. I also liked that I could top up the balance or make additional payments for say "haircut" really easily. I found it much more engaging than a normal banking app. Also I like the control you have over setting shop purchase limits, limits for one off purchases, weekly spend limits etc. Also, very easy to retrieve pin for the kids if they couldn't remember. As a parent I felt really in control of my kids finances at the same time allowing them to have control, and learn independence around spending and saving, and really like a little parental tool for teaching the kids the value of money, saving and earning. Easy for parents to set up, monitor and put limits on if needed - even let's you set rewards, but I'm saving that for later. Child sees their own money and savings and is a great incentive to teach about money their own money management. Reviewed on: 17th April 2021
