I am writing to you in regards to my account being under review. I had opened a new business account with HSBC to get foreign currency account service as we had done a joint venture with a german based company to invest in UK on properties. After a hard work we came to this agreement and were expecting a initial start up funds from germany. My client send me the confirmation of his swift transfer. I contacted the bank regarding thi fund i was expecting. Went to a branch and over the phone, but they said the money has not reached HSBC. I contacted my client and they send me a tracer copy which mentioned the money is with HSBC. So i decided to visit canada square branch and ask as that the address mentioned on tracer copy. The staff was helpful and started investigating with the help of tracer copy. After 30 mins of wait the staff came back and said the money is here, but the my account in with review department. I asked why is that and he was unable to answer. I said atleast i should be given some reason as to why its with review department. Then i asked how could i contact them as this is very important for my business and my client. But nothing. I am still trying to find the reason why and when my money be credited into my account as i have to reply to my partner as its his funds and he wants us to start the work. I would be very happy if i could get some information about this. Why no one has contacted me, or no one has given any intimation as to when this is done. How do you expect us to grow our business and pay our bills and survive without our business. And this is just the start of our business account. I was very happy with lyodds in this matter. Can someone help us

You would be required to attend a branch in order to open a business account, takes too long. I wanted to also open an EUR account but was told after taking a month to open the business account that I have to make another appointment to open foreign currency account and waiting times where I live are 4 weeks. So all in all it looks like it would take nearly 3 months to open an account with GBP/EUR, totally unacceptable when I found a disrupter bank that can do it in less than a day.

USeless company takes forever to set up a business account. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Hopeless. Lost documents, still waiting six weeks later to set up business account, despite already having a separate account with them. Essential codes they send through the post take forever, or don't come, took a passport into a branch for photocopying but they lost it. People on phone fill in forms, even a complaint form takes up to five working days to get a response to. Don't bother.

The extras on the Advance account need to be treated with caution, particularly the breakdown cover. I broke down at 9.30pm in a dangerous spot and despite the initial person I spoke to saying I would get priority treatment - as my daughter was with me who has mental health problems - they eventually sent a contractor out at 12.30. Over THREE hours later. When i called back I kept getting a different story. Not sure about being a fully-fledged RAC member, but the HSBC breakdown service has really gone to the dogs since they got involved. Disinterested, sleepy sounding call centre staff, just rubbish. Sounds like RAC is fobbing HSBC customers off with a really crappy package, and HSBC doesn't care as we all cough up every month for this so-called benefit.

May as well organise a mortgage yourself

Used HSBC for the mortgage on a new property. Simply put we were 'porting' our current HSBC mortgage from the old to the new house and taking out a second HSBC mortgage to cover the difference. The maths was Mortgage 1 + mortgage 2 = the price of the new house (minus what we put in in terms of equity on the old property)

HSBC applied the following maths. Mortgage 1 - mortgage 2 = £97,000 short of what we needed. I voiced concern this was wrong and this was ignored for 10 weeks straight, despite repeated e-mails and phone calls. 2 days before exchange our lawyers got involved and pointed this out. HSBC finally accepted the mistake as one of the advisors having made a cock up. I expressed dismay that the mistake wasn't picked up by underwriting and the fact theres a single point of failure that can go all the way through to exchange.

I wrote a letter asking HSBC to alter their procedures so no single mistake could go through to exchange without a second check to detect it, a relatively easy process to employ. HSBC refused stating it was 'too difficult' to implement this. From someone that works in a safety related industry where procedures change the whole time I know this not to be true. HSBC then suggested it was the lawyers that were to blame, ironic when it was the lawyers that THEY INSISTED i use. That cost me £1004 in cancelled legal fees from the original lawyers I instructed. Again HSBC denied any wrong doing as it's in their terms and conditions. I might also remind them 'learning from mistakes and putting things right is also in the T&Cs but they failed to do that by refusing to change very poor procedures. HSBC then went on to suggest I was the second line of defence on mistakes and I should have picked up the mistake. I pointed out I was not a financial adviser but I had highlighted a mistake and I had been ignored. Ironically then HSBC seemed to ignore me when I further pushed this point. I would summarise they actively encourage weak procedures so they can use plausible deniability. In the end I was offered £250 and the ombudsman agreed this was fair because the legal issue and the procedures issue they do not look into as it's not their area of responsibility. I contacted the FCA who seemed largely disinterested but 'added it to their statistics'.

Now i know how the 2008 financial crash occurred. In my industry this standard would not be accepted.

Taking my mortgage and bank elsewhere at the end of my fixed mortgage term. That will cost HSBC a lot more than £1004 i can assure them.

In summary a totally incompetent and mismanaged process, and very unlikely to be a one off given the weak procedures to prevent such things happening.

I've been baking with HSBC for over 8 years, and have had a great relationship with them, until applying for a mortgage online. The process was extremely fast and I thought this was a good sign, until they made a decision on my application in 3 days and declined my application on my credit score, which is rated as very good by both Experian and Equifax. I'm lost for words with HSBC as they are clearly incapable of accepting applicants that don't meet their stringent criteria, of which I have asked HSBC to clarify on how I can apply again in the future with better Hope's, and they simply replied with "we cannot share this information and it is commercially sensitive". HSBC don't take into consideration loyal customers and I will certainly stop banking with them until the foreseeable future, really is their loss.

Not worth rating!!! I applied online for a loan and all the information provided online was totally misleading. I contacted HSBC and the figures provided were nowhere near to the online figures. I have always been a good loyal customer with a good credit history with HSBC and never in my entire life had any financial issues which has led to late payments, overdrafts ect. First time i have requested a loan from Hsbc and very disappointed with the service. Better off going else where where youll get better rates.
