Monzo offer a free bank account for under 16s, with controls set by their parent or guardian.

Kids get their own neon card and can see their money in the Monzo app. Parents or Guardians can keep an eye on the account, set spending limits and schedule pocket money.

I am Bank of Scotland customer and I wanted a card for my 12 year old kid but they proposed me only card where I cannot see anything what's done on the card and Monzo is giving me full access and a lot really good advices for kids how to manage their own money or create saving pots. The Monzo account for under 16’s has been a game changer. With no fees, a straightforward app and, most importantly, the ability to manage alongside my own accounts. This account is excellent and since opening it I’ve not considered looking for an alternative Reviewed on: 20th April 2026
