The finance agreement was unwound, my deposit was refunded, I received a refund of my finance payments (less a mileage deduction), statutory interest and compensation. Unfortunately, the way my complaint was handled was extremely disappointing. I repeatedly had to chase for updates, emails went unanswered, and agreed timescales were missed on multiple occasions. Even after MotoNovo agreed, through the Financial Ombudsman Service, to pay the outstanding interest and additional compensation, I still had to continue chasing because the payment was not made. The Financial Ombudsman Service had to intervene several times before MotoNovo finally honoured the settlement they had agreed to. Without that intervention, I have little confidence that the matter would have been resolved as it was. Whilst I appreciate that the complaint was eventually resolved, it took many months, unnecessary stress, and a significant amount of my own time to reach that outcome. Never disclosed. Look up Johnson v FirstRand Bank 2024 — the Supreme Court ruled this is unlawful. Check your agreement. Right now. Look at what your deposit actually did to your total. My complaint was formally upheld, and it was agreed that my finance agreement would be unwound and a refund issued within 7–10 working days once the vehicle was returned. The car has now been collected and returned to the dealer, and despite this, I have not received any of the refund I am owed. I have contacted my case handler multiple times by email and attempted to call using the extension provided, but have received no response whatsoever. I have now been left with no option but to escalate the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service. This level of communication and failure to implement an agreed resolution is extremely disappointing. I financed a car from Motorvana (Stockport) through MotoNovo. The vehicle had multiple critical defects from day one, including illegal tyres, a cracked alloy wheel, and failing safety systems. As the finance provider, MotoNovo is jointly liable under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 to help resolve these issues. Instead of helping, MotoNovo’s complaints process has been a masterclass in delay and obstruction. For over four months, they have: - Repeatedly ignored the severity of the safety-critical defects. - Delayed for weeks without even assigning a case handler. - Refused to authorise repairs or provide a like-for-like hire car, leaving me without safe transport. - Demanded unnecessary evidence after I had to pay for essential repairs myself (like replacing the illegal tyres) to try and avoid reimbursement. - Closed my complaint while the car remains unsafe, offering a derisory £250 gesture that doesn't even cover a fraction of my costs or distress. They have failed in their regulatory duty under the FCA's Consumer Duty (PRIN 2A) to avoid foreseeable harm and act in my best interests. Their inaction has made them complicit in the dealership's sale of an unroadworthy vehicle. Choosing MotoNovo Finance removes your most important legal protection. They are not on your side. They will side with the dealer and leave you stuck with a faulty car and mounting costs. I am now forced to escalate this to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
