The British Bank Awards, now its third year, gives UK consumers the chance to voice their opinions and vote for their favourite banking providers.

Today we’re launching the British Bank Awards 2017 - the UK’s largest banking awards which are voted for entirely by you, the British public. With fifteen awards up for grabs including “Best British Bank”, and “Best Current Account Provider” - who will you choose as your winners?

Why we run the British Bank Awards

Our mission at Smart Money People is to increase trust and transparency in financial services. The British Bank Awards is our way of finding out which banks are up to scratch, and which are in need of improvement.

These awards are not decided by sponsors, or a panel of judges, so by giving consumers the power, the awards help us to find out which banks are performing best for their customers in 2017.

“Best British Bank”

All UK banks, big or small want to win this one. As with all of our awards, the general public decides who wins, so to have your customers vote you as “Best British Bank” is quite the accolade.

Last year First Direct won for the second time, but with challenger banks like Atom Bank on the horizon, will it be any different this year? View the 2016 league table below to see where your bank finished in February 2016, and whether your agree or disagree, the only way to have your say is to share a review of your own!

Ps. If you can’t find your bank in our league table, we need your reviews more than ever. We’re aiming to add a more banks to this list in 2017, to help make it a definitive source for customers looking for the best banking providers.

New this year

To reflect the changing landscape of banking in 2017, we’re adding a few new categories this year. We’ll be looking for the “Best Alternative Finance Provider”, that’s anything from peer-to-peer personal lending to invoice financing for business. We’ll also be looking for the best banking apps with two new categories that highlight the growing importance of the mobile banking experience to many customers. You can vote for your “Best Banking App”, as well as your a “Best Personal Finance App”.

We’ll also be announcing an “Innovation of the Year” award which could be anything from popular consumer features such as HSBCs “Fast Balance”, to something that helps you save, like Barclays “Save The Change”. So give your favourite features a mention in your reviews, and help determine who takes home this award too.
