Good alternative to credit card

It has been an overall good experience, I opened an account when I was not eligible for a credit card but could use PayPal credit. It has allowed me to purchase some necessary things. I like that there are interest free periods for larger purchases. I find it a little frustrating not being able to pay off specific things, meaning I end up having to pay interest on things yet to be paid off. I’d like to have more control.
