Review of the Holloway Friendly, Income Protection:

Worthless. Borderline theft.

Worthless. Google needs to create a zero star option. After 6 months of jumping through hoops to process a claim, it was made apparent to me that I had not completed the initial assessment correctly/honestly. It seemed like all efforts were made to slow down the claim process, only compounding the stress and uncertainty. It seemed like every time I spoke with their team I was required to do something else. My condition makes it difficult for me to see, read, focus for prolonged periods, so I am very dependent on my partner to help me with their ad-hoc requests to get the claim moving. To be fair, (if they are being honest) there seems to be some validity to their reasons for not finally honouring their policy. Some details which I couldn't remember and felt were minor all suddenly became important. I am not 100% sure, but I have been forced to take THEIR word for it - for now. If you are going to gamble your security in this way, make sure you have a copy of the questionnaires you complete or are in receipt of a voice note from your phone assessment, or you just have to take their word for it. Do not pay them a penny until you have a copy. Those chirpy warm, friendly conversations come to a halt when it's their turn to do something other than take your money. I am deeply embarrassed of how I feel I have been tricked. Holloway Friendly have refused to honour their agreement as they claim I failed to disclose health details that I felt were neither impactful nor relevant. I am forced to take their word for it and instinctively impulsively defend myself accordingly. Whilst waiting for a decision on my income protection, I have lost my home and had to dissolve my limited company. I am 50 years old and have never been so vulnerable in my life. The service has been so clunky and protracted, I had to check in that they were a legitimate company. To my surprise, they are but the general Google reviews (void of the Trustpilot algorithms) echo my experience. For peace of mind PLEASE AVOID this organisation. If you do not, you will wish you had when you desperately need help. I am 100 times worse off for their convoluted service. In fairness, I have to blame myself partly. For 32 years I have dealt with insurance companies with a lot of mutual respect, confidence and transparency, but now when needed most I find myself in the worst position of my life. I have learned (a little late) there are far better Income protection insurance companies that offer better rates and service. They will catch you cold on the phone to protect themselves against the Ombudsmen. Please don't take my word for it. Try and find an actual person whom you know personally who has something positive to say about this company. This outfit is very disingenuous and insidiously clever. -No written evidence of conversations you have had available (told to go back to the broker) ? -No copy of the assessment questionnaire on inception of claim (told to go back to the broker) ? -No need for medical records when setting up the claim . . . ? -No need to respond to their queries in writing . . . ? This has been a very painful lesson learned late in life, I am unlikely to fully recover from. Don't be me. Take out a policy with a company with better reviews and a good reputation.Don't be fooled by the selective Trustpilot algorithms. The positive reviews are abnormally and excessively flattering and seemingly fake. I will now use all platforms and channels that are publicly available to share my experience and warn people away from this outfit. No one deserves this.To add insult to injury, despite knowing full well they were canceling the policy, despite the direct debit being set up for the 10th of every month, they took payment on the 25th and attempted to take another on the 27th. This company has had no qualms about taking money from my account for a policy they have cancelled. Just let that sink in. Reviewed on: 14th March 2025
