The Travel-Friendly Finance App That’s Replaced My Bank

5
I’ve been using Revolut for a couple of years now, and honestly, it’s been a game changer—especially when it comes to managing money while travelling or working remotely. What I love most is how easy it is to switch between currencies and send money abroad without getting hit by ridiculous fees. I travel quite a bit, and being able to pay in local currency at near-perfect exchange rates has saved me a lot. The app itself is super intuitive—everything from budgeting tools to setting up savings vaults feels smooth and well-designed. I also like how quickly you can open an account and get started. No long queues or paperwork—just a few taps and you’re good to go. And the instant notifications whenever you spend are great for keeping track of your money. That said, there are a few things that could be better. If you don’t pay for one of the premium plans, some features are limited, and I’ve found that getting proper support from a human can take a while if something goes wrong. Also, it’s worth noting that in some countries it’s not a fully licensed bank, so things like deposit protection may not be the same as your traditional bank. Overall, Revolut is perfect for my lifestyle—especially with international payments and budgeting. It’s not my main bank, but it’s my go-to for travel, saving in different currencies, and managing smaller investments like crypto and stocks. Reviewed on: 30th April 2025
