Shockingly Bad Company - Do NOT choose

As someone who takes reviews seriously and writes them with sincerity, I always try to be fair and transparent. When a company deserves recognition, I’m more than happy to give it. But when a business fails so completely that it borders on absurd, I feel it’s my duty to warn others — so they don’t have to endure the same drawn-out frustration that I have. Unfortunately, my experience with Scottish Friendly falls squarely into the latter category. In all honesty, they’ve proven to be one of the most unprofessional, disorganised, and downright infuriating companies I’ve dealt with in years. What should have been a simple transfer of funds from a Scottish Friendly account to One Family turned into a six-month ordeal that tested every ounce of my patience. Six months — and still, they couldn’t manage to complete a basic administrative task. Meanwhile, One Family acted promptly and professionally throughout, keeping me updated and doing everything in their power to move things along. The contrast between the two companies could not have been starker. Repeated requests from One Family went completely unanswered by Scottish Friendly, as though they were operating in a parallel universe where customer service simply doesn’t exist. After months of this nonsense, I finally lodged a formal complaint — only to receive a dismissive and robotic response claiming that Scottish Friendly was not at fault because they had “only just received communication” from One Family. That explanation is as implausible as it is insulting. It perfectly captures their attitude: no accountability, no apology, and no awareness of how damaging such negligence can be to customers. Rather than investigate or take ownership, they chose to hide behind bureaucratic excuses and pass the blame elsewhere. At this point, I’ve given up expecting any resolution from them. Instead, I’m sharing my experience publicly so others can make an informed choice before entrusting their money to a company that seems incapable of performing even the most straightforward tasks. In short: Scottish Friendly have been anything but friendly. Their customer service is dreadful, their communication non-existent, and their attitude dismissive. If you value your time, your sanity, and your money, I’d strongly advise you to look elsewhere. 1 Star – Appalling Service and Zero Accountability. Reviewed on: 16th October 2025
