Review of the Swinton Insurance, Car insurance:

This year I was lucky enough to purchase a new car. On informing Swinton I discovered from one of their employees they could not insure my new car. I put this down to the fact it was new with little detail but another insurance company I contacted insured the new car immediately. I cancelled Swinton insurance and the remainder left on the insurance was refunded to my bank account. I was phoned back by Swinton straight away as the individual at Swinton had made a mistake and refunded me too much money. The same individual informed me that there would be some figures appearing on my account but this would rectify the error. I accepted this and understood the situation. This was in November 2016 yesterday 11 January 2017 I receive a letter from Swinton informing me I owed them £25 and this s now being referred to their debt collecting agency but if I want to resolve this immediately I would avoid a £25 admin fee. Understandably annoyed by this I called Swinton and was forwarded to the department dealing with debt. They did not have any details of me and I explained my frustration as I wanted to resolve this situation quickly even though it was a Swinton error initially. It was first suggested I went into my local Swinton branch however I have no idea where that is as my business was conducted online. As this was a new case I was told my fold/case had not arrived with that department and call back in 3 - 4 days. I am so exasperated because:- *the letter I received yesterday was quite strong for a first contact informing me of the money I owe. *I couldn't use Swinton to insure my new car and remain with them *I have to call back in 3 - 4 days to pay the money owed. *I was told to go into my local branch! where is that and why? I initially wanted to remain with Swinton and found it difficult to stay a loyal customer due to the customer service dealing with transferring my insurance to a new car, closing my insurance, paying money owed due to Swinton error, and lack to help just an empty sorry from the poor individual receiving my, calm, explanation of my annoyance. I will avoid Swinton because of this experience. Reviewed on: 12th January 2017
