Started my journey with trading 212 just over 2 year...

5
Started my journey with trading 212 just over 2 years ago. Went through a breakup and I was looking for a way to invest the extra funds I had from not having to look after a man child. Trading 212 made it incredibly easy to invest and also have a tool that allowed me to practice what I was doing before I put real money in. I played with it a bit and then started investing. I played around with buying individual shares and selling them when they went higher. I was only doing this with £5 at a time at the time and was incredibly impatient at first spending time on there just watching my money go up by 30p or so before cashing out and buying something else. Over time I learnt more through the tools in the app like the comments from other users and I discovered the S&P 500 and the stocks and shares ISA. I don’t make enough for it to make a difference right now but I realised that my money was better off in the Stocks and Shares ISA so my returns were tax free. So now I put into the stocks and shares ISA every time S&P 500 dip low. This money is taken from the Cash ISA I also have with them that they brought out not long after I stared with my S&S isa. I had a cash isa already with Santander but the money was locked away for 2 years and I didn’t like that. I waited till the new financial year to start my cash isa with trading 212 and once the money that was locked away was released I also put that into my trading 212 account. I much prefer that I have access to the money incase of any emergency’s and I also like the daily notification telling me how much I’d earned that day. Seeing my money go up everyday gives me an incentive to want to put more in and not take it out to spend on things I don’t need. I feel like I’m in control of my money and investments. It’s been an empowering journey. Reviewed on: 9th April 2026
