Review of the PayPal, PayPal Credit:

Long-Term User Perspective

5
I have been using PayPal for over a decade, primarily for online shopping, and overall it has been a convenient and reliable payment platform. The ease of use, buyer protection, and wide acceptance across retailers have made it my go-to choice for many purchases over the years. One of the most valuable additions for me has been PayPal Credit. It has significantly helped manage my spending, especially with features like “buy now, pay later” and flexible instalment options. Previously, I was able to spread payments across longer terms such as 6, 12, 24, and even 36 months, which made larger purchases much more manageable. However, I’ve recently noticed some limitations that have impacted my experience. PayPal now seems to restrict instalment options to shorter terms, typically only up to 3 payments. This is a step back compared to the flexibility that was previously available, and it reduces the usefulness of PayPal Credit for larger purchases. Another ongoing frustration is the lack of control over repayments. While PayPal offers interest-free periods (usually if the balance is cleared within 4 to 6 months), there is no way to individually select and pay off specific purchases. This can make it difficult to manage balances effectively, especially when multiple transactions are involved. Many other credit providers offer the ability to allocate payments to specific purchases, and it would be a valuable improvement if PayPal introduced a similar feature. Reviewed on: 11th June 2026
