Excellent way to coordinate across currencies and segregate payment across cards for safe payments

I have been using Revolut for several years now, and it is go-to card amongst consultants who work across different countries. Knowing you can take one card and use it to withdraw currency and convert cheaply across currencies just takes the hassle out of everyday banking. I live in both France and UK as well, and so it is a way to easily get money over to my wife without having to worry about. Revolut has now become my default ApplePay and GooglePay card. I love the controllability as well - being able to create soft cards so I can pay for internet purchases on one card, regular internet payments on another soft card, and put limits so I can limit my exposure. It's great for neurotic people like myself! And of course, the pots are a useful idea, if only I could train myself to use them consistently. But the novel feature of putting money into pots automatically means it is really no excuse. Like savings accounts, but actually useful. And it all works across different mobile platforms too, which is great as I use both Android and iOS. Some of the hiccups of previous years seem to have been cleared up, and getting notifications, and actually being told a fuel hold has been put on for a certain amount temporarily is one of those 'gotchas' that you can get with any card - but with Revolut, I feel like I just know what's going on. And that's what you want with a bank, isn't it? To help you keep a handle on your money. Revolut just keeps making this easier with each new innovation they bring. Little things like the fuel hold just give me the warm fuzzies. And now I can have a real bank account across different countries too with no need to do extra paperwork. It's kind of insane how quickly things are moving in this space. I haven't yet checked out the business option though. I may just do that as and when I set up a company in France. Put simply, I trust Revolut with my money more than I do with any bank I've had in the past. Reviewed on: 3rd February 2020
