Excellent under RSA - but now rubbish

I have had pet insurance with More Than for almost 13 years and am currently paying over £240 per month! When it was administered by RSA, the claims handling process was excellent - simple to do on-line - quick to settle - and you could track progress of the claim by accessing your account. Since Admiral took over, it has been nothing short of a disaster. Tried to submit a claim on 10 Sept - on-line form wouldn't recognise the policy number. It turned out that when the new policy started in January, this year, the policy number was changed and no one bothered to tell me. Said they would send out letter again - it's just arrived - with the same RSA Policy Number that I had originally!! Everyone is blaming 'new computer systems'. Submitted claim eventually - and not having had any form of acknowledgement that they had received the claim for two days, rang this morning to make sure they had got it. Was told, initially that they hadn't and I was asked what the Claims Number was - I didn't have it because the system doesn't generate one - contrary to what the claims handler was saying. Then.....surprise,surprise - he suddenly found the claim - and once again blamed "this new computer system we are still getting used to". And how long are they going to use that excuse - they've been dealing with More Than Pet insurance for almost a year! Obviously the claim has still to be settled but I not holding out much hope of seeing that happen anytime soon. What a deplorable state of affairs. I'm seriously thinking of cancelling the insurance and funding any further expense myself. Reviewed on: 12th September 2025

Outstanding customer service

Two years ago, I had to make a claim when some low life fired and air rifle at our caravan and caused significant damage. From the outset, the customer service reps were sympathetic, kind and understanding and went out of their way to ensure matters were rectified as soon as possible. An assessor arrived to inspect the van the next day and repairs were immediately authorised. During the repairs, there was a delay in obtaining spares from Germany. The assessor was notified and took the matter on board and within a few days, the parts had arrived with the repairer. I subsequently made a claim for transport costs to and from the repairer (600 miles) and within 48 hours received a cheque for slightly more than I had claimed due to their different method of calculating the costs. The true test of an insurer is how they react when you have to make a claim and in this respect the staff at Devitt's / CAMC couldn't have done more. When renewal time comes, I don't bother looking elsewhere because I am confident that no other supplier could match the service provided by CAMC. Reviewed on: 20th August 2022

Outstanding service

I have been insured by CAMC cover for almost three years and because of the outstanding service I received when I had to make a claim 18 months ago, I wouldn't contemplate going anywhere else for caravan insurance. They looked after me in a way that was second to none. Reviewed on: 28th July 2021

Last year, I had to make a claim against our CAMC Caravan Cover after someone fired an air rifle at our van whilst on site, causing £1500 worth of damage. The staff at Devitt's were professional, understanding and sympathetic when I submitted the claim and within less than 24 hrs, an assessor arrived at our home to inspect the van and immediately authorised the necessary repairs by our dealer in Cumbria. After a couple of weeks, it transpired that there was a delay in getting the necessary spares from Germany which I reported to Devitt's. I understand that they put the assessor on the case and whilst I don't know what was said, or to whom, the spares miraculously turned up within a couple of days. At the conclusion of the repairs, I submitted an email claim to Devitt's for the fuel used in transporting the van to and from the repairer, in accordance with the terms of the insurance. I received a cheque (by post!) within 48 hrs of submitting that claim which was actually for more than I had claimed due to their method of calculating the costs. Throughout the process, I firmly believed that the staff at Devitt's were 'fighting my corner' and doing everything within their power to ensure my total satisfaction with the process - exactly what an insurance company should be doing - but sadly not always the case. Needless to say, I had no hesitation in renewing my CAMC cover this year and was delighted to see that the cost had remained more or less the same as last year. In addition - I have also had occasion to make one or two variations on the conditions attached to my policy and this has been easily achieved with a quick phone call to a very helpful member of staff who implemented the changes - and without the imposition of an 'admin fee'. I cannot speak too highly of the supportive and helpful nature of everyone I have spoken to in connection with my caravan insurance to the extent that I would not, now, consider going to any other insurer.
