I searched the compare websites and all the other main insurances quoted me £1200 plus for a BMW. ByMiles was at the top on all the comparison sites as the cheapest but seeing it was a ‘black box’ insurer, I wasn’t too keen! (Having a BMW sport, it’s nice to put your foot down now and again! Tut tut!) but reading the Ts&Cs of ByMiles, they only track your miles and not driving behaviour! Signing up is done through their site. You can call customer services for questions but they won’t sign you up over the phone. How does it work? You pay a one off payment to insure the car while it’s on the road and not moving and you’re told how much you will pay per mile you travel. You are sent a small OBD device that stays plugged in the car for the length of your policy and every time you drive, the device logs how many miles you travel. At the end of the month, you pay for how many miles you use! It’s perfect for people that don’t travel long distance everyday! They app has a tool to calculate how much your trip costs only putting in the postcodes of the stand and end destination. So far, there hasn’t been any problems! If you sign up and recommend a friend, you get £50 when they join of free miles! Reviewed on: 4th August 2021
