Genuinely personal customer service & adjustable premium by usage

I first encountered By miles through a comparison site. I had to contact customer services despite trying to buy my policy entirely online. After adjusting to the required shift in my thinking about car insurance, I was greatly reassured by my customer service experience to the extent that I cannot understand why car insurance hasn't always operated on the principle that one pays for the amount one uses one's car. However, the idea of capping this is actually an added incentive for a customer to drive ecologically in that it strikes a balance between paying for miles driven but not limitlessly so because of the counterbalancing fuel costs. Overall then, it seems very fair (in principle) that the insurance premium paid consists of an upfront portion for when a car is not in use and another for when it is being driven.
