Review of the Scottish Building Society, Savings:

Will never give them my custom again.

I've been a loyal customer of Scottish Building Society for over three decades using their Keith Agency at Stephen & Robb, Solicitors. Imagine my shock when I recently visited to complete a transaction to be told SBS had ceased using them as an Agency, also the Huntly agency at Peterkins, Solicitors. No letter received informing me of this. Apparently the majority of customers had received no notification either and had subsequently closed their accounts. Rang SBS and spoke to someone at a branch in central Scotland. Only customers who had made transactions on their accounts in the last two years had been notified! I could continue my accounts online. No thank you! I had invested money in long term products so had no need to be visiting the Agency regularly. Wrote a letter to nearest branch. Inverness closing all my accounts and informing them how I felt. Accounts closed, passbooks returned. No acknowledgment of my letter/explanation for their actions. I now hear they've opened a large new branch in Aberdeen. What about all the faithful customers who are not online or those who do not wish to bank online, understandable in this era of scams. I appreciate SBS are moving with the times but how difficult would it have been to send all their Agency customers a letter explaining what was happening? Disgraceful treatment of loyal customers.
