Problem opening Members’ Month Loyalty Saver account

I attempted to open a Members’ Month Loyalty Saver accounts last June and there was a problem opening it. There was no message identifying a problem during the online process and hence I didn't know there was. Sadly Saffron were not proactive in contacting me. Once I had realised that there might have been a problem (no emails etc detailing the account opening) I contacted Saffron and the issue was resolved very quickly. Why didn't Saffron know that an application for a new account had been made by an existing customer and become 'stuck' in the system? My wife had exactly the same problem. Query poor systems

I have been a member of Saffron BS since March '23 when I opened a Small Saver account. I opened a second (follow on) Small Saver account in April '24 and this account was linked to one current bank account. I made an application for a Members' Month Loyalty Saver on 6th June just after I'd changed my current account from one bank to another. As a result I inserted the new bank account details as the linked account in my application. My new Saffron account didn't open and I heard nothing. I subsequently guessed what the problem might have been and contacted Saffron and we managed to put it right. There is no evidence that Saffron made any attempt to contact me either at the time of me making the online application or me contacting them to resolve the issue. The new account was eventually opened on 21st June. My belief is that the issue of a change to linked bank account details should have been clearly flagged either during the online application process or very shortly afterwards. In any event better IT systems would have helped me open the account in a much more timely manner: as it was, my application just sat in the ether doing nothing and not attracting any attention. Excellent rates over a range of notice periods

Having previously been with another app based savings provider, I switched to Zopa and was able to spread my savings over a number of different notice periods (and therefore managed to increase my average interest rate). A very happy customer. Reviewed on: 11th January 2023
