Review of the Starling Bank, Current account:

Best current account I've had

I am motivated to state how good this modern bank account is with the app and all cutting edge facilities. Great to use abroad also with near perfect exchange rate and no transaction fees. (I previously had a Tandem credit card until it changed to charging fees). I took this Starling card, along with my phone and smart watch on a recent trip around the world ( well, western/modern world ie Singapore, Australia and the States ) Near perfect, only once did I have to pay a hotel a Mastercard usage charge. Even then I suppose I could have drawn cash from a local ATM and paid cash. Card control is great. App is great, reliable and fast for reassuring payment transactions, shown converted to sterling within seconds. I also carry a Barclaycard (plan B) bespoke to foreign travel but this has not changed for the last 20 years and transactions are days and days slow. I think I can now manage without a credit card for most hotel and even most car hire transactions, due to how good Starling Card is. Nothing but good experiences so far. Recommend on merit alone. I have just recommended the account to my sister who works long contracts abroad and she is also impressed. Reviewed on: 1st April 2023
