Review of the NatWest, Rooster card:

Reluctant at first but now totally converted to idea

At first we were reluctant to introduce the children at a young age to bank cards as we wanted them to learn about physical money (even just what each coin/note represented) however in a world that is increasingly contactless we were struggling with practical things like remembering to take out money for their pocket money each week. Plus my younger ones have taken a note in their pocket and on at least one occasion, not remembered what they did with it or threw it in the bin not noticing when cleaning pockets. I keep the younger ones cards with me until we are at our destinations! The Rooster app is brilliant and I really like the way it provides options to divvy up there money so that they can spend some while keeping some back for bigger items or holidays. It’s very straightforward to use and one of the best bits is the cheaper subscription fee than another popular child’s card. My eldest has a phone and is able to check the app herself and see if there are any bonus tasks uploaded. Reviewed on: 7th April 2024
