State pension likely to rise by 4.7% in April

The 13 million people receiving the state pension are likely to get a £500 boost to their state pension next year, under the ‘triple lock’ rules. The lock means the state pension is pushed up each year by either 2.5%, inflation, or average earnings growth - whichever is the highest figure.

First-time buyers offered 2% deposit mortgage - but those using Bank of Mum and Dad are BANNED

Newcastle Building Society has launched a new mortgage called First Step, which allows first time buyers to borrow between £96,000 and £350,000 with a 2% deposit of at least £5,000. The catch? All the money must come from the borrower’s own savings.
