Very poor system design & frustrating customer service

Trying to close my Revolut account has been an extremely frustrating experience. The system design is poor and unnecessarily complicated. I was unable to log in via the web because verification emails were supposedly sent but never actually arrived, even after checking spam and junk folders. Despite this clearly being a system issue, support kept asking me to follow steps that were impossible to complete without access. On the app side, I was suddenly required to upload a selfie to close an account I no longer use. I have serious privacy concerns about this and explained them clearly, but support showed little flexibility or understanding. Communication felt repetitive and scripted, with no real attempt to resolve the underlying problem. For something as basic as closing an account, the process should be straightforward. Instead, it felt time-consuming, inflexible, and customer-unfriendly. This experience has seriously damaged my trust in Revolut. I would not recommend Revolut based on how account closure and customer support are handled. I would have given zero stars if that were possible. Reviewed on: 27th January 2026
